Harvest Festival 2014 ***updated***

This year our Harvest Festival Appeal supported the HG1000 project to provide 1000 water filters which  will provide a family with safe, clean, drinking water for a whole lifetime.

Safe drinking water is a luxury that many people living in poverty cannot afford.

£50 will provide a family with a water filter system, improving their health and providing a lifetime of safe drinking water. Proven and tested by doctors, each system is easy to assemble and maintain.

Our challenge was to raise enough money to donate 7 water filters (one per class)

Children were given a bottle of fresh water to drink and enjoy. The challenge was  to fill the bottle with coins (maybe in exchange for doing some small  jobs for friends and family)

We 'harvested' our coins at our Harvest Festival on Thursday 23 October when we were joined by  Rev Guy Donegan-Cross. Guy demonstrated the water filter - and as if by magic some really yucky water was clean enough for Mrs Beetles to drink!

When all the money was counted we discovered that our target of 7 filters had been 'blown out of the water!' An astonishing £800 was donated - enough to buy 16 water filters - enough to provide 16 families with fresh water for a lifetime. Once again the families of Sutton have done us proud!
