What made you choose Sutton CP for your child? 

  • It’s our local school with a good reputation as an ex pupil I knew the school well.
  • The uniform
  • Me and his Mum went to Sutton CP. My daughter the same and I think it is a great school
  • We visited the school on open day. IT had a really good felling. Very friendly, warm environment.
  • His sister attended and other family members too – we have always had a lovely experience.
  • Sister attends and has enjoyed attending

How do you think your child has settled into school?

  • Very well, he always wants to go
  • Really well she loves it
  • I think he has settled in really well and by going on what his teachers says everything is good!
  • So far so good. She really enjoys school and talks about it all the time.
  • He’s found it harder than I thought he would. The first few weeks he was tired and emotional but now he is in a routine he is absolutely fine.

How did you feel about the new starters package (open day, welcome evening, home visits, transition visits and written information) given to you?

  • We found it helpful and has all the information we needed
  • I thought it went really well and was given plenty of information
  • Very good
  • Unfortunately I missed the welcome evening due to holiday but the rest I found really helpful and it really helped her to settle into school life.
  • Everything was fantastic. He particularly liked receiving things in the post for him.
  • Home visits were great as after that he was happy to go as he had enjoyed showing the teachers all his toys.
  • Was lovely no complaints.

  • The open afternoon could have been better. However we were really impressed with the home visits and transition days – the welcome evening was good
  • These were brilliant. A lot of thought and preparation has gone into this and it shows. Made me feel happy about our decisions too.

  • It was excellent. felt we were given loads of information and found the welcome evening and phonics session very useful

Is there anything we could have done differently or better?

  • The only time * felt overwhelmed was after lunch in the big playground. I do feel it would be better not to put them in there during the first week.

  • when attending open afternoon we shown around by a pupil which was interesting, however I had lots of questions that went unanswered

  • Perhaps include a lunch stay in the transition visit to give the children an idea of what to expect?

What advice would you give to a parent of a child starting school here in September 2018?

  • That everyone is friendly and welcome so try not to worry too much
  • To pick the school as everyone is very welcoming and make you feel confident about sending your child
  • It’s a great school, the teachers seem to do a wonderful job and all the kids seem to love it there
  • To visits the school and read all the information and discuss with the child all the good things the school does and are involved in
  • Don’t worry the early years staff are fantastic and very approachable if there are nay worries – have faith, your child will be fine
  • Try not to worry Reception Staff are lovely, friendly and really helpful.
  • Try not to worry about it.

  • don’t worry the teachers and teaching assistants are great and make starting school an easy process for both children and parents
  • don’t worry about a thing the YR staff are outstanding
  • Relax! Your child will love it at Sutton CP School and will settle in really quickly. It’s a lovely caring environment and your child counts.
