Light Fantastic - Dec 15

On Dec 15 we  hosted a special day in school celebrating 'LIGHT FANTASTIC.’ During the darkest time of the year we gave over whole day to reflection on the theme of ‘LIGHT’

This was one of our whole school learning events planned  across  the year and this one has a  SMSC focus (spiritual, moral, social, cultural theme) We are helping to develop children’s understanding of the symbolism of LIGHT  especially at this time of year when three of the major world religions have light at the heart of a major festival; Christians (Advent - Christmas)  Hindus (Diwali) and Jews (Hanukkah) During the day children throughout the school were involved in a series of workshops run by staff and friends of the school. The workshops will be cross curricular and involve music, dance, drama, RE, science and lots more.Each workshop was led by a member of staff or one of our Friends from local faith groups. Children worked in small groups of twelve and brothers and sisters were given the chance to work alongside each other for the day. Ecah group was led by  Y6 leader who ensured the day ran smoothly.

· The aim of the day was all about;

  • respecting other people and accepting them even when their ways are different from ours
  •  showing friendship to people similar to usand to people who are not the same as us
  • to celebrating our own traditions
  •  having fun and sharing

Thank you to everyone who made this such a special day for us all.
