The Big Build Begins - Jun 18

At last it’s nearly here—we have been waiting for the commencement of the build of two new classrooms here at Sutton CP. The great news is that after delay of a year (yes really!) the project is scheduled to begin on site week beginning Monday 25th June. The full project is scheduled to be complete on Monday 20th August and will provide us with much needed new space. The existing Y5 classroom will be demolished two new classrooms, a study and toilets erected in its place. These two classrooms will be used by Y5 & Y6 from September.
Obviously this means that, for the last four weeks of term, there will be contractors on site and most of the front playground will become their compound. For the final few weeks of term, Y5 (32 children) will be moving to the current Y6 classroom and Y6 (20 children) will be based in ‘The Nest.’ Whilst we are all looking forward to having the ad-ditional space, we recognise the challenge it will present to staff, children and parents so ask for your patience and support for the duration of the works. As always the Health and Safety of our school family remains our primary concern.
Here’s how you can you help...
1. The front gate will be out of action during the works—part of the wall will be demolished (and then rebuilt) to accommodate access to the site. During the project you should use the gate adjacent to the park for all access into school.
2. Please make every attempt to walk to school if you can—you may need to park your car further away from school than you usually do.
3. If you can offer practical support in terms of packing classroom contents please see Ms Dunkley and/or Miss Dean (who would be very grateful!)
4. We will keep you up to date with the schedule of works
5. If you have any concerns regarding the site, please discuss them with Mrs Beetles.
