Harvest Oct 2019

St Thomas’s Church, Sutton in Craven -  150th Anniversary

This year we have joined with St Thomas’s Church in their challenge to fill and distribute 150 shoeboxes to three local charities; Keighley Women’s Refuge, The Salvation Army and POPI (Pass On Pre-loved Items)

ur Harvest Festival was held in school on 18th October.

We were joined by Lawrence from St Thomas’s Church and Rev Rob from Sutton Baptist Church who led the festival; and we were also joined by Mr Sugden, our Chair of Governors.

One of the songs we chose; ’Thank you for a million billion things.’ really summed up the message of our celebration this year.

Each child who had brought a gift came forward during the service and, by the end, we had to give ourselves a round of applause and a pat on the back for the astonishing numbers of gifts  collected! We’d like to give you a great big thank you for supporting your child and encouraging them to learn the power of giving.

Lawrence  will be coming back into school  and together with our school Council will be packing your gifts into shoe boxes for distribution to the three charities.

Our aim was to fill between 30 and 50 shoe boxes as a school. Overall the church was able to fill over 200 boxes of donations. Our school Council help Lawrence to take our donations to St Thomas's where they met with children from Sutton CE School to fill the many shoe boxes. Great result everyone - well done - and  thank you!
