COVID 19

29 May 2020

Dear Parents and Carers

I am writing to give an update on our plans for school wider opening. You will recall that just before half term we sent out a survey, thank you to everyone who responded, we had 116 returns which we have used to inform our planning going forwards.

Over half term our Covid19 group of senior staff and governors have continued to meet daily.

During this time we have worked through the complexities which lie ahead.  School has also had a deep clean. Our survey has indicated that there will be a large influx of families requiring Essential Childcare  amongst our Key Worker  and Vulnerable children category (priority 1 - Gov.uk )  Indications suggest 60 children will be returning under this category, these children are across the whole primary range. Current government guidance is that there can be ‘no more than’ 15 children in any group, and less spending on age of children and sizes of rooms.

Based on this we are working towards:

Week beginning 1 June - school will be open for Essential  Chilcare of families who have previously used this provision

Week beginning 8 June - Essential Childcare will be open for new users. - following registration through Mrs Wallace. Proof of Key Worker status is required. New session times apply.

Wednesday 10th June - school wider opening for YR and Y1 pupils.

Due to the high number of projected attendees at Essential Childcare it is currently  highly unlikely that we will be able to offer any provision for other year groups, including Y6, before the end of this term other than  for the children of Key Workers or Vulnerable Children.  This is a situation which may change if the projected numbers do not materialise or the government guidance changes on group sizes and we will keep it under constant review.

With an increased number of  children in school our teachers will have to  explore ways of continuing to support  pupils who are remaining at home. We hope to be able to utilise the existing virtual school, Tapestry and Google Classroom which has been working well. We think we can make this work.

Sending love from the staff team to your family
