Pupil Wellbeing & Safeguarding

Safeguarding is our number one priority in school.  We have designated safeguarding leads - DSLs.  These are Anna Riley, headteacher and Jill Fletcher , Deputy head who lead on safeguarding but the entire team have a role to play and consider safeguarding to be our number one priority. All staff have regular safeguarding training and have a good understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Education which is a key safeguarding document.  We follow all the policies recommended by North Yorkshire and these are regularly reviewed.

Within school we have a designated teacher for previously looked after children - this is Chirsta Baldwin, who is also our SENCo.

School Safeguarding Statement Statement

Sutton in Craven Community Primary School is committed to ensuring the welfare and safety of all children in school. All North Yorkshire schools, including Sutton in Craven Community Primary School, follow the North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children Partnership procedures. The school will, in most circumstances, endeavour to discuss all concerns with parents about their child/ren. However, there may be exceptional circumstances when the school will discuss concerns with Social Care and/or the Police without parental knowledge (in accordance with Child Protection procedures). The school will, of course, always aim to maintain a positive relationship with all parents. The school’s child protection policy is available publicly below
