World Book Day 2019

"Between the pages of a book is a wonderful place to be!" (Anonymous)

On Thursday 7th March 2019 our school was populated with Harry Potters, Matildas, Mary Poppins, BFGs and many other colourful characters (including inspectors from Oftsed!) who had sprung from the pages of a wide range of books to celebrate World Book Day

After an assembly which included a quiz to test our pupils' knowledge of books and authors, each class spent the day completing book-related activities.

In Key Stage 1,  Year 2 paired up with Year 5 for some shared reading, Year 1 designed their own superhero character and our Reception pupils acted out the story of Little Red Riding Hood.

In Key Stage 2 these included: finding the mean (average) of a range of book related data in Year 6; Year 5 watched a BBC Live Lesson which featured the authors Cressida Cowell, Rob Biddulph and Malorie Blackman; eye-catching, personal bookmarks were created in Year 4 and text based models were made in Year 3.

To top off an action-filled day, we had open classrooms before the end of school, where parents and family members were invited to participate in whole class shared reading sessions of our class novels.
