Welcome to Year Five!
Y5 is taught by Miss Dean
'It's not that I'm so smart; I just stay with problems longer.' Albert Einstein.
'All our dreams can come true - if we have the courage to pursue them.' Walt Disney.
Here is just a little information about our school day.
In the morning we have a Maths Skills Practice session, English, Maths Problem Solving Session and Guided Reading. During our maths sessions children will be tested on their times tables once a week, so please help your child to practice at home.
All children have been given a wonderful learning journal to support their learning both at home and in school. These are expected to be in school every day and taken home every night along with their reading book. As a guide line it is expected that year 5 children nationally should be reading for 15-20 minutes four or five times a week - more is better. Please support you child in doing so. Each child has received a year 5 recommended reading list - why not help them to read through some of these fantastic books? Spellings are sent home every Monday and children are tested Friday of the same week.
PE will be on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon, Please ensure your child has a white T shirt, black shorts and trainers in school. Earrings are not allowed to be worn during PE sessions. Please remove earrings or bring tape from home to cover them. Also hair must be tied up.
