Fiesta Celebration!

On Thursday 22 May 15 the children of Sutton in Craven Community Primary School enjoyed a fabulous Spanish Style Fiesta. The whole school event, planned to be a culmination of the first full year of learning Spanish and saw all 200 children take part.

During the morning children worked in groups to build market stalls, learned  flamenco style dancing, produce decorations and prepare a range of delicious tapas dishes. Children came dressed in the Spanish colours of red and yellow with quite a few Spanish football shirts and Flamenco dresses in evidence.

By half past two the sun had come out as class by class children ‘bought’ their  euors at tapas market. Whilst being entertained by flamenco dancers children, staff and parents  tasted a range of Spanish treats prepared by their friends earlier in the day. From paella to  fruit ‘sangria’, and churros to cheese a substantial amount was eaten! Spanish manners were in evidence as ‘por favour’ and ‘gracias’ were heard across the playground.  At the end of school families were invited to come to the fiesta too.

‘It was a fantastic way to celebrate our skills in Spanish! The event involved a huge amount of teamwork. I’d like to thank everyone who made the event such a great success! Mrs Lucy Patrick, Deputy Headteacher.
