Happy Channuka

As part of our broad and balanced curriculum, today we welcomed Susan Wilcock to our school in order to learn about the Jewish festival of Channuka. Susan gave an excellent assembly on the history of Channuka and the miracles witnessed by Judah and the Maccabees. The children learned about how this story is remembered today by Jewish people all around the world and celebrated with presents, delicious food and the nine candles of the menorah.

Susan also visited our reception class and was really impressed with how much they could remember about how Jewish people celebrate Channuka.

The children were also fantastic at understanding the similarities and differences with the Christian festival of Chrismas and the Hindu festival of Diwali.
