Church and Mosque visit

On Monday 26th June our year 3 class had a fascinating visit to see different places of worship in Keighley. The class travelled by public bus (no.66) to visit St Andrew’s Church and the Shah Jalal Mosque. The children learned all about the different features and objects in the church and their use in Christian ceremonies. We also learned about how the church uses prayer in worship.

At the mosque the children learned about the ritual of purification before prayer (Wudu), listened to the Iman recite some of the Quran and learned to read the Arabic alphabet. Our hosts at the mosque were very impressed with our children’s knowledge of the 5 pillars of Islam.

A big thank you goes to Rev Mike Cannondale and Mohammed Rahman for arranging the visits and making us feel so welcome.
