Children and staff at Sutton CP School are able to access the internet through a variety of devices. We recognise the tremendous opportunities the internet provides in supporting learning whilst having due regard for the safety of our children.

Internet Safety awareness for children

Core to our Computing curriculum and covered in our PSHCE curriculum is the importance of online safety. Children are advised of the typical risks in a rapidly changing digital world.

Internet Safety Awareness for parents
​
Parents are advised on the latest developments through the regular newsletters to ensure that they are aware of how to keep their children safe on the internet outside of school. This may also include guidance on the responsible use of social media by parents in relation to our school. Further details can been see on the following page safeguard your child online.

Digital and Video Images of Pupils
Parental permission is sought when children start school regarding the use of photographs of pupils on the school website, on school social media pages and in the local press. Class teachers endevour to make sure they only publish picture where parental permission is given.

​Storage of images
Digital and video images of pupils are taken with school equipment only. Images are stored on a centralised area on the school network, accessible only to teaching staff.

Safe use of the internet at school
Any inapproriate websites or content is automatically blocked by a filtering system admistered by Smoothwall. This ensures that no unsuitable content is accessible on school networks and is an essential part of our school safguarding prodecures. In addition to website filtering, the school also uses a key-stroke monitoring system which alerts senior staff to any attempt by children to access innapropriate material.This is also an essential part of our safeguarding procedures.

Pupils use of Mobile Phones​
Mobile phones are only permitted in certain circumstances and then only with prior written agreement from school.
