Year 1

This year Year 1 will be taught by Mrs Riley on Mondays and Tuesdays, and by Mr Clayton on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The class will be supported by Miss Blackie and Miss Mason.

 

Autumn Term 2026

We are looking forward to many exciting activities this term in Year 1.

 

In the morning our first job is to practise our phonics then we move into English, Maths or PE. In the afternoons we will be learning all the National Curriculum foundation subjects in provision.

 

We also complete daily reading practice weekly with books sent home on a Thursday and need to be returned the following  Wednesday. Please read with your child every night - this will have a big impact on their reading confidence.

 

Foundation subjects:

Science – Identify and name everyday materials.

History - Toys from the past.

Computing - logging on and using a laptop

Music - Body percussion, singing and listening

RE – Who is a Christian and what do they believe?

Art – Different kinds of lines

PSHCE - Me and my relationships

PE – Dance, Gymnastics, Balls and Racquets
