Year 4

Welcome to Year 4

 

Year 4 is taught by Miss Malik and supported by Miss Walton on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursday mornings and Fridays. Mr Barrick also supports Year 4 during their outdoor learning sessions on Monday mornings.

 

In the mornings, we begin our day with spelling practise; we then walk to the park for our mile a day. We are then back in class for Maths, English and Reading Practice. In the afternoons we have our Mastery Number lessons and our Foundation subjects.

 

In Maths we will be learning Place Value within 10,000 and will then begin our learning of Addition and Subtraction with a focus on 4-digit numbers.

In English, we will be focusing on Fable (The Lion and The Mouse), Instructions (How to wash a Woolly Mammoth) and Poetry (The Magic Box).

Mondays are outdoor learning and our P.E. days will be on a Wednesdays and Fridays. Please come to school in your P.E. kit on these days.

 

Weekly spellings following the Purple Mash scheme will be sent home on a Friday, to be tested the following Friday. We also practise these daily in class. Please focus on consolidating the 3, 4 and 8 times tables at home this term. 

 

Our library book day will be a Friday. We will also change reading books, for the groups on the Little Wandle scheme, on a Friday.

 

Home Learning

Home learning packs will be handed out by the end of the first week back at School. Each week we'd like children to complete daily reading, maths activities and weekly spellings.

Also, please continue to work hard to learn all your times tables. You are expected to know all your times tables through to 12x12 by the end of May.
